VALLEY TOWNSHIP -- Members of a National Guard unit out of Montour County are back home after placing fourth overall in a national competition.

Four members of Charlie Company Third Battalion 103rd Armor out of Danville took part in the Sullivan Cup, competing against the best tank crews in the U.S. Army and Marines.

The competition in Georgia included physical fitness and tactical crew drills along with precision gunnery. It was held last week at Fort Benning, Georgia.

"It's great for the armory community. It's great for the National Guard. We really only do this as a hobby. To be able to compete against the big boys, the active duty guys internationally, it's a good thing," said Sgt. 1st Class Bryan Bailey of the PA National Guard.

The group from central PA was the only National Guard crew to advance this far against full-time active duty members.
