DUNMORE -- The Marywood University community, parents and students in Lackawanna County said goodbye to two longtime child care teachers.
Sister Marilyn Muro taught at the Domiano Center at the school for 34 years.
Sister Sarah Ann Holmes has been at the center for 19 years.
"It's a wonderful feeling, and it's beautiful to see all these children come back. Especially all the high school and college students we haven't seen in years," said Holmes.
The Domiano Center at Marywood University closed on May 9th.
It had been part of the university since 1979 as a way for education students to get hands-on experience with kids. Now, college students can get that experience off campus, so the university decided to shut the center down.
While the sisters are sad to see the center close, they're grateful generations of students were able to walk through the door.
"It's nice to know that the parents thought enough of the program, and appreciated it when they were children enough to want their children to have the same values," said Muro.
Arielle Keating was a student at the center. Now, she's an educator.
"I know that I would not be the teacher I am today without their inspiration and guidance in teaching," said Keating.
Even though the years of this building being a childcare center are over, the president of the university said students will still utilize this building, they'll just be a little older.
"This will be the Domiano Center for Student Life and it will carry forward and touch students. It will be a very important part of the Marywood community moving forward," said Sister Anne Munley, president of the school.
Dozens of former students, young and old, came out on Sunday to say thank you and good luck.
