WILKES-BARRE — A shooting in a residential area of Wilkes-Barre sent one person to the hospital.

WILKES-BARRE -- A shooting in a residential area of Wilkes-Barre sent one person to the hospital.

Investigators say the man shot Thursday morning on Hutson Street in Wilkes-Barre is expected to survive.

According to police, the shooter is armed, dangerous, and on the loose.

Neighbors on Hutson Street tell us they heard five gunshots fired just before 11 a.m.

Newswatch 16 was there as paramedics took the shooting victim away on a stretcher and loaded him into the back of an ambulance.

Officers told some neighbors to get back inside their homes for their own safety.

A short time later on Walnut Street, police found a tan sedan that they say is connected to the shooting.

Police described the gunman as a 6 foot tall black man, possibly wearing glasses, with tattoos on his neck.

Parents say there are a lot of kids that live in the neighborhoods where the shooting happened and where that car was found.

"Hopefully they catch the person. I hope the person that got shot makes it. It's a sad thing," said Quiana Ware.

"It's really sad," said another neighbor. "You can't even sit on your porch. You can't even enjoy being out in weather like this. You've got to live in worry all the time with your child."

Police say the man who was shot is being treated at Geisinger Wyoming Valley and he is expected to survive.

The search is still underway for the man who shot him.
