LEWISBURG -- Mother's Day is known in the restaurant business as the busiest day of the year.  Employees at Country Cupboard near Lewisburg say that is an understatement. General Manager Steve Kulhavey says he expects to serve around 4,500 people this Sunday!

"We'll start right away when the doors open at 7am with folks bringing their moms out for breakfast and go right until 8pm when we close in the evening," Kulhavey said.

So as you can imagine, the staff at Country Cupboard is busy preparing for the Mother's Day crowd.

The bakers decorated some of the 300 Mother's Day cakes. To put that into perspective, Country Cupboard usually makes around 40 cakes each weekend.

"We make pies, cheesecakes, coffee cakes, donuts and all sorts of things to feed all the customers that come to country cupboard this weekend," Melissa Gro said.

The Country Cupboard isn't just a restaurant. They also sell gifts and flowers. So while mom is eating you can head out to the greenhouse and pick her up something special.

"Beautiful hanging baskets this year, some new citrus trees from Florida and our boutique has some wonderful ladies apparel," Kulhavey said.

Longtime customers say they aren't surprised by the massive Mother's Day preparations at Country Cupboard.

"Holidays there are lines from the entrance to the restaurant all the way to the parking lot," Carl Polm-Faudre said.

So why not take mom out to dinner this Sunday on Mother's Day? Because if mom is cooking at home, she is not relaxing on her special day.
