WILKES-BARRE -- Another generations-old store in Wilkes-Barre is closing for good.

The Outlet Army and Navy on South Main Street in Wilkes-Barre is closing after 45 years in business.

Saying goodbye to the store is bittersweet for its owner and loyal customers.

There aren't many places where you can find bright orange camouflage pants and slacks for $15 bucks and ammo boxes.

The Outlet Army and Navy on South Main has it all, but not for long.

Its owner Sheldon Block is retiring and closing the store after 45 years in business.

"It just feels like the right time for us where we can retire where we're not that old and we can enjoy some retirement years," Block said.

Block hopes to close by the end of the month. Until then he says everything in the store is marked down.

Tony Woronko of Wilkes-Barre is longtime customer.

"It's closing now. That's a shame. Prices are right here and you get nice, good clothes."

The store carries a lot of normal items like shirts and socks and other clothing, but it also has some unique things, things you're not going to find anywhere else, and that's what people say they're going to miss the most about this store.

"I'll miss the opportunity to be able to come in here and get the little things that this store has to offer," said Susan Wallace of Wilkes-Barre.

This was Wallace's first visit to the Outlet Army and Navy, a stop she felt she had to make while the business was still in town and prices good.

"Well you know, every girl likes a bargain."

But Sheldon Block says he can't put a price on the memories he's made after 45 years in business.

"My father started the store. We worked together hand in hand. I have a loyal right hand man right over here. There I go again! "

Block says the owner of Bell Furniture down the street has bought the building and will occupy the space when he leaves at the end of the month.
