The 2014 Schuylkill County Relays took place on Friday night May 2nd at Pottsville Area high-school.
The boy’s 3200 meter relay winners from Blue Mountain Area high-school. Derek Mosteller made a pass on the 3rd leg of the race to take the lead for the Eagles handing to Tristan Dickey for the win in 8:13.03 seconds.
On the girl’s side in the 3200 meter relay we had several changes from the beginning to the end. It was Pottsville and Blue Mountain sharing the early lead, then Mt. Carmel made a move at the 1/2 mile mark, but state contender Paige Stoner from Pottsville made a pass in the last 800 to make it to the finish first in 9:49.85 seconds for the Lady Tide.
AJ Stevens jumped 20 feet 3 1/2 inches for Pottsville, but not enough team length. The Schuylkill County Relay title going to Hazleton, with Blue Mountain second, followed by Jim Thorpe.
The boy’s javelin combined champions from Tamaqua. The team of Tyler Hope and Zach Zuccatti hit 330 feet combined for the championship.
The girl’s 4×100 relay champions from Pottsville in 51.00 seconds flat. Madison Sherakas handing to Nicky Brantley for the win.
Skikellamy won the boy’s 4×100 relay in 43.70 seconds. Nate Shrawder, Ryan Wary, Cale Wary, and Tom Petersen won gold. The District 4 AA and AAA Track and Field championships take place in Athens on Saturday May 17th for the Braves team.
