SCRANTON -- A ceremonial ribbon cutting was held at a new hangout and study spot for veterans who are now students at the university of Scranton.

A dedication ceremony was held Tuesday at Loyola Hall on campus for the new Veterans Lounge.

There has been a student run Veterans' Club at "The U," but they didn't have their own space until now.

"It's nice to have a space as veterans to come and talk, because every veteran knows, even though we have experiences in the different branches, we all have one camaraderie with all of us," said Gretchen Bentler, the student veterans club president.

The dedication ceremony also honored Ray Burd, a long time University of Scranton employee and supporter of the student Veterans Club. He died in an accident earlier this year.
