WYOMING COUNTY -- More than 2,000 people showed up at the Wyoming County fairgrounds near Meshoppen for the County's annual Business, Gas and Job Expo on Wednesday.

Many job seekers said they're eager to break into the gas industry and are hoping for steady work.

"It's tough when people are sweating it out when you get your paycheck you need to rub two dimes together at the end of the day, it's tough," said Tony Matiello from Forty Fort.

Kevin Lynn represents the Linde Corporation, which builds pipelines. He said his company is looking to add about 50 people and he would like them to be from the area.

"There's this huge sort of rumor about the business was all going to be people from Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas and Louisiana, and yes, some of those skilled people were. But they've been replaced by local people who learned how to do their jobs," said Lynn.

There were 107 vendors at the expo and about half of them were looking to hire. That means about 500 people coule be getting a call for a new job.

"It looks like there's some prospects. I have to go on webpages, follow up, follow up, follow up. Something will show up," said Matiello.

"I talked to a few of these people and it sounds pretty promising. I have to go online and get everything going, but yeah this is the place to be," said Richard Kramer from Wyalusing.

For those who are currently out of work, they said keeping a positive attitude is key.

"I'm going to go home and wait for phone calls. They're going to come in hot and heavy," said Kramer.

The Business, Gas and Job expo in Wyoming County was also a chance for other businesses to break into the gas industry and to network.
