WILKES-BARRE -- Homes and businesses in part of Wilkes-Barre were without water Tuesday because of a water main break.

This break was discovered around 8 a.m. because the asphalt buckled on East Main Street near the intersection of Scott Street in Wilkes-Barre.

Pennsylvania American Water tells us that around 60 homes and businesses are without water because of the break in a 10 inch line.

Part of East Main Street is blocked off because the pressure from the broken water line buckled the road.

Officials say other Pennsylvania American Water customers in the Miners Mills section of the city may have low pressure or discolored water throughout the day as crews work to fix this break.

Water company crews were able to restore service around 3 p.m. Tuesday.
