Man Injured Saving Mother From Fire

pitts twp fire

PITTSTON TOWNSHIP — A man rescued his elderly mother from a burning home in Luzerne County.

The Pittston Township fire chief tells us a mobile home on Glendale Road caught fire around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

He says the woman’s son who was next door saw the fire and broke a window to rescue his mom and his pets.

The man was taken to the hospital for breathing in too much smoke and other injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Route 502 was closed in the area while crews fought the fire.

hey everyone… just setting the story straight,,, i was the person this story refers to and there is a slight error in the story tho my mom was already out… and safe… it was the animals i kept going in for… then put the fire out… well best i could… was still smoldering with the firemen got there but was mostly out,,, did suffer some injuries and ended up down Lehigh valley hosp… where got unbelievably good care,,, amazing ppl there…. orig was taken to geisinger sp? hospital then life flight to lehigh spent 3 days in… home now,,, well with family anyway the home isnt habitable any longer…

just would rather the truth be known about me and everything… i did make sure my mother was safe prior but i didnt pull her out,,, busted the windows to let the smoke out so i could see,,, also have to thank my cousin’s John and Jim they were right there with us and Jim ended up getting treated for smoke as well… thanks everyone,,, would rather it be known truthfully than without all the extra fluff… i only did what i thought i had to do,,,
