Man Charged With Torching Dallas House

DALLAS — Police believe they have the man responsible for starting a fire last month that leveled a house in Luzerne County.

The vacant home on Woodlawn Avenue in Dallas was destroyed.

Officials say a firefighter was hurt putting out the flames.

Police say James Cummings, 27, from Dallas was arrested Sunday and charged with lighting the fire on March 31.

Police say Cummings admitted breaking into the house and lighting the fire to keep warm, He said he fell asleep and the fire spread. He then fled the scene.

Cummings is charged with arson and criminal mischief.
