Thru 5 innings the Holy Cross Crusaders softball team left 11 runners on base. Give credit to a very good Carbondale team-making plays in the field and turning away every Holy Cross attempt to score. Holy Cross took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning on a wild pitch. In the top of the 4th the Lady Chargerettes tied the game at 1-1 on the RBI single to right field off the bat of Paige Kohut. It was tied until the 6th inning.

After a basehit, and then a wild pitch Carbondale had a runner on 2nd with 1 out in the 6th inning. They scored on a strikeout-throw out to first-that batter was out, but the relay throw to third sailed high and allowed the go-ahead run to come in making it 2-1 Carbondale.

But Holy Cross didn't panic. Julia DeMarco started the 6th off with a single and then stole second and scored on a squeeze bunt off the bat of Gabby Giordano to tie the game at 2-2. Then the big blast from Grace Perechinsky-her double off the left field fence plated Giordano and Holy Cross had the lead again in the bottom of the 6th at 3-2.

Erika Mackie settled in for a quick 7th to earn the win.
