SCRANTON -- Three area veterans received a special birthday party in Scranton Wednesday evening. All three vets are 102 years old or more!
Organizers at the Geno Merli Ceterans Center put together a birthday dinner celebration for all three.
Carl Neu turned 104 years old on Wednesday. Arthur Pesotine and William Roberts both turned 102 this year!
Roberts told Newswatch 16 he survived a shrapnel wound during World War II.
"Today I'm celebrating, I'm glad to be here and I'm lucky to be here," said Roberts.
"It's just unbelievable, I never thought that something like this would take place, my father, in the health that he is in, it's just absolutely amazing," said his son, Richard Roberts of Wilkes-Barre.
William Roberts earned a purple heart for his service and was honorably discharged as a sergeant.
Happy birthday to these amazing veterans!
