NEWPORT TOWNSHIP --- A double block home is falling apart near Nanticoke.
Neighbors believed Tuesday's heavy rains caused the foundation to give way at the home along Old Newport Street in Newport Township and officials said the area is unsafe. Neighbors on both sides were told to leave their homes because of collapse concerns.
Neighbors said the place has been unoccupied for six years.
"We had to deal with the continual rodents and disrepair as you look at it, it's all falling down. Shingles keep falling. I had to replace the patio roof on my house because of shingles falling through it, " said Paul Kinder of Newport Township.
Officials in Newport Township said they expect to have crews tear down the home within the next couple of days.
