PECKVILLE — There were savings at the pump for drivers filling up Thursday morning in Lackawanna County.

Peckville Assembly of God treated people to cheaper gas at Pop Pop’s convenient mart in Peckville.

The price was $2.99 per gallon, a savings of 55 cents per gallon.

Some drivers found out about the “buydown” on Facebook, others were surprised when they showed up to fill up.

“50 cents off gas today is quite a bit, it’s a good deal getting 50 cents off. And they do a lot, the Assembly of God, they are very good,” said Debbie Murphy of Archbald.

“I usually come here and get gas, but now I come and my windshields get washed and I get cheap gas. What more could you ask for?” said David Collarini of Olyphant.

Volunteers from the church also handed out information about their ministries and cleaned drivers’ windshields as they waited in line.
