MOOSIC -- The field is groomed to perfection as a lone worker was putting on the finishing touches at the home of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.
PNC Field in Moosic is ready to tackle another season.
Kevin O'Shea brought his two children to the stadium to gear up for opening day.
“We`re excited, we`re big Yankee fans, especially my son here,” said O’Shea. “And we`re ready to roll, we just won a couple tickets for the president`s box.”
Last year`s opening day brought in huge crowds as folks poured in to glimpse the New York Yankees top minor league team`s new stadium.
This year there's another reason to celebrate.
The team marks its 25th anniversary, and there`s plenty of fun things planned.
“Theme nights and promotions and giveaways, people will see the different signage around the ballpark. It`s really going to have a great feel to it,” said Rob Crain, the president and GM of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.
Team officials said they`ve added new attractions to the Fun Zone, a popular spot for families, behind center field.
And the team is bringing back a popular program involving little league teams called "Field of Dreams."
“All the little teams can come out, take the field with the RailRiders for the National Anthem, and it`s just something to create a great memory for them because we had Derek Jeter here last year, we had Alex Rodriguez,” said Alyssa Novick with the RailRiders.
The game is set to start at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday April 10.
The game will be broadcast live on WNEP 2.
