It's an early spring test for Wallenpaupack senior javelin thrower Anthony Bouselli. With weather improving the Buckhorn can break out his stride and gauge progress.
"It definitely does it's been a pretty slow year to start off this is exactly the first day we're able to do full run-ups outside on the field, because it's been drenching wet. Even now it's still a little wet, but we finally can do full run-ups," said Anthony Bouselli.
Anthony's biggest day in his high-school track and field career took place last year at the District II meet at Scranton Memorial Stadium where he brought home two 1st place finishes-one in the discus the other in the javelin against very good competition.
"I had a personal record in the javelin of 192-10 inches and personal record for the discus of 165-7 inches," added Anthony.
"Anthony just did a great job. Throughout his career he's been a clutch performer. As track and field as in many sports it's something that you have to perform on that day. You have to show up. You have to be consistent, and you need to be able to perform under pressure and for him to do that last year in the discus and the javelin was really a special moment and it's a testament to Anthony's ability to perform under those tough conditions," said Bernie Bieski.
Bouselli's four-year run at districts comes to an end in May. After graduation in June Anthony starts his college throwing career at the University of Virginia under the watchful eye of two former Olympians.
"They have two Olympic coaches. One is from Croatia. They have two guys that they just brought over from Croatia who are actually breaking their school records right now. So I'll be working with some very high athletes," again said Anthony.
Bouselli holds the Wallenpaupack school record in the javelin. He is still chasing the discus record of 169-11 inches held by Justin Kraft, and those District II AAA records are still out there for the taking.
