The U.S. Department of Transportation launched its first-ever national advertising campaign, featuring a 30-second PSA going viral now that depicts a fatal side collision after the driver picks up her phone to answer a text. The tagline: “U Drive. U Text. U Pay.”

In 2012, Belgian road safety NGO Ryd Belgium produced a video that has racked up more than 2 million views on YouTube. The hidden camera video takes a different approach, showing an instructor dictating texts to student drivers because he says they need to know how to type accurately while they are driving to get their licenses.
