HANOVER TOWNSHIP -- UPDATE: The Luzerne County coroner has ruled the death a homicide due to traumatic head injuries.

An elderly woman who was attacked last month died Tuesday at the hospital in Luzerne County.

Investigators say Dorothy Koreny, 78, was assaulted by her niece outside her Hanover Township home in late March.

Now,l more serious charges are expected to be filed against that niece, Isis Brown.

Isis Brown, 34, has been behind bars since her arrest on March 28 after police say she attacked her aunt outside her aunt's home near Wilkes-Barre.

Now, investigators say that aunt, Dorothy Koreny, died at the hospital from injuries she got during the assault.

The Luzerne County district attorney says more serious charges are expected to be filed against Brown.

“We will sit down, the investigative team, sit down and determine what charges are warranted at this point,” said Luzerne County District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis.

The attack on Koreny was caught on video taken by a next door neighbor's surveillance camera.

Court papers say Brown can be seen throwing items down onto her aunt, who police say was lying on the ground behind some bushes.

Neighbor Sheldon Arnold put that camera up because of past problems with Brown.

“She was coming by our fence, making all kinds of trouble, harassment, so we finally just installed the cameras and now they're going to convict her with the cameras, so probably a good thing, you know,” said Arnold.

Other neighbors say they've also had run-ins with Brown.

Now, Brown is behind bars and the aunt she is accused of attacking is dead.

“She does have mental problems, big-time mental problems, that should have, something should have been done years ago,” said Maryann Revit.

The district attorney says an autopsy for Korney is scheduled for Wednesday.
