RUSH TOWNSHIP-- Daniel Dissinger, 13, was curious, talkative, and smart.

His Brother Gavin, 7, was active, friendly and loved to be outdoors,

The boys and their brother Arthur, 2, were killed when flames consumed their house on South Smith Road near Danville Friday morning.

A sister and brother escaped and tried to get help, but it was too late.

A day later, flowers began to cover the scorched foundation of the home, brought by people paying tribute.

One of them was Mary Weikel, a Sunbury firefighter.

"I would not have wanted to be the firefighter that brought them out."

Friends and relatives also visited Danville Middle School where Daniel Dissenger was a student. His locker transformed into a memorial covered by cards inscribed with messages from classmates. One reads,"Daniel I love like a brother."

On Saturday, the school served as a refuge for staff and students, offering grief counseling and more informal support.

In the following days, Daniel and Gavin will be remembered in a number of ways.

"Letting the kids talk through what they are dealing with, understand the stages of grief, some of them are going to be impacted for quite some time," said middle school principal Charles Smargiassi.

Administrators have planned activities to help the district's youngest kids cope.

"We have stories prepared, we have books that talk about loss and grief, activities as simple as making a poster, making a banner, writing a message to the students, so they have a way of feeling connected," said primary school principal John Bickhart.

On Tuesday at the Danville Mennonite Church, a visitation will take place at 12:30 p.m., a funeral at 1:30 p.m.

Several fundraisers are in the works including one at the school on Monday.

A fund to help the Dissinger family has been set up at M-C Federal Credit Union. If you'd like to help, stop by any branch of the M-C Federal Credit Union or send a check to:
