TOBYHANNA -- A man from Monroe County pleaded guilty to two counts of murder on Tuesday.

Luis Vasquez pleaded guilty to the third degree murders of Joseph King and Bertoldo Velez.

Police said Vasquez admitted he shot and killed his co-workers at a park in Tobyhanna back in 2012 because he owed one of them thousands of dollars.

The Monroe County district attorney had been seeking the death penalty in the case.   Officials said it is off the table because of the guilty plea.
