COVINGTON TOWNSHIP -- Ultimate fighter Matt Hamill is in northeastern Pennsylvania this week.

Monday night, the popular UFC fighter, who is deaf, made a stop at a restaurant in Lackawanna County.

Hamill, known as "The Hammer," signed autographs and shook hands with folks at Medicino's near Moscow.

Hamill has been deaf since birth.

He plans to stop at the Scranton School for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children on Tuesday to deliver a motivational message to students.

"I'm just really proud to be who I am, and just want to share my experience, what I've been through and the parts that are an advantage. So, it's a good opportunity for the kids to look up to me, who has been through some hard times. I just don't want the kids to give up," said Hamill.

Hamill is expected to make other appearances throughout the area this week.
