HAZLE TOWNSHIP -- This is the time of year when high school seniors get close to graduation and have to put serious thought for their future.

There is a school near Hazleton that wants to help them make their decisions.

Nearly 300 high school students toured the McCann School of Business and Technology near Hazleton.

Lori Kane, a school official, said the visit can be an important step in determining their futures.

"Not only to showcase McCann and for many kids, they don't know want to do with their future and this exposes them to things they maybe didn't see before."

Students could learn about a wide range of potential careers. Here are just a few: working as a surgical assistant, a paramedic, and law enforcement.

The juniors and seniors were from nine schools in the area.

Deonte St. Hill of the Jim Thorpe High School enjoyed McCann.

"Kids can come up here and see what they want to do with the rest of their lives and if they want to do this or they don't it's a pretty good helping tool," St. Hill said.

Brooke Turner, a Panther Valley student, said although McCann is not for her, she enjoyed the tour.

"I think that's a wonderful experience to learn about different fields and just get the feel of a college campus even if we're not considering a field in business."

The McCann School of Business and Technology has seven campuses in our area and they hope these hands-on programs for high school students will increase their student population.
