MAHANOY TOWNSHIP — State police released details of a chase Wednesday night in Schuylkill County.
State troopers said they attempted to pull over a vehicle on Interstate 81 because the driver was a suspect in a retail theft that happened at the Fairlane Village Mall.
That’s when authorities said the vehicle took off. The chase went through several communities and finally ended up in Union Township when the driver missed a turn and rolled over on SR 339.
Investigators took Brian Shafer, 43, of Hazleton and his passenger into custody.
State Police said Shafer had several outstanding warrants for alleged thefts at the Schuylkill Mall.
Troopers say charges connected to the chase will also be filed.
