TAMAQUA — We’ve all seen the success that Penn state’s ‘Thon’ has had to raise money in the fight against pediatric cancer, so one school district held its own ‘mini-thon’ in Schuylkill County.
Students in Tamaqua got together in the high school gym on Saturday for the third year in a row.
They played basketball, dodge ball and had a volleyball tournament as well as an open swim pool party for the younger kids.
This was the first year the entire district got involved in the ‘mini-thon’ that helps in the fight against cancer.
“Everything we raise today will go to the American Cancer Society and it will be donated to specifically pediatric cancer research,” said Tamaqua Student Government President, Brianna Bittner.
The theme for mini-thon was ‘Kids Helping Kids’.
All the money raised in Tamaqua will go to the American Cancer Society telethon next month.
