Former Officer Enters Plea To Sex Charges

WILKES-BARRE — A former police officer facing sex charges entered guilty pleas Wednesday in Luzerne County court.

Cody Smith pleaded guilty while in court for a pre-trial hearing on his case.

He was arrested and charged in October and November of 2013.

Smith was a part-time police officer in the Wyoming police department.

He pleaded guilty to statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, and one count of corruption of minors. Two other corruption of minor counts were dropped.

Smith is free on bail. He is not allowed any contact with victims or enter a school zone. He was must also seek treatment.

Smith is scheduled to be sentenced June 20.

    Still, it’s everywhere, not just cops so keep your eyes peeled be smart and don’t take your career for granted, this is exactly the example we need to show children so they know what is not the right thing to do

    Its not his fault, he has rich snobby parents who probably didnt care about him or give him any attention. So he resorted to drugs and turned into this.

    Got probation for molesting a 11 year old girl. Hope this does not happen here.
