SCRANTON -- Shoppers were buying up a sweet Mardi Gras treat in Scranton.
At Lynn Sandy's bakery in south Scranton the most popular item on Fat Tuesday was a traditional Mardi Gras king cake.
The owner says they predicted, based on past years, to sell about 50 of the cakes, but the sold about four times that.
They have been continuously cooking them since very early Tuesday morning.
The owner says Fat Tuesday sales help bakeries get through the winter months.
