JIM THORPE -- Work has started on a project to replace a busy bridge in Carbon County.
Excavation work is now underway where a new bridge will cross the Lehigh River in Jim Thorpe.
PennDOT says this is a $28 million project to replace the Route 903 Jim Thorpe Memorial Bridge.
The old bridge will stay open until the new one opens. That is expected in 2017.
