TUNKHANNOCK -- The CVS in Tunkhannock is moving to a new location.

Business owners in the area of Wyoming County are looking forward to it.

"I think it's going to be great for us and I'm hoping it brings us more business in the area," said Gina Suessenbach, owner of the Country Gift Box on Bridge Street.

The old CVS at the Towne Plaza will move its employees and products to the new store on Bridge Street.

But people in the area have a warning about the new location.

"They're going to want some flood gates down there because I'm sure it will flood eventually. It's only a matter of time, it always does," said Issac Millard of Tunkhannock.

In September 2011, water from the Susquehanna river flooded Gay's True Value and many other businesses in the area.

"The flood was the final straw that just drove us to relocate and the CVS deal was just perfect timing," said Dan Gay, a manager of Gay's True Value.

The new CVS was constructed on higher ground than the original Gay's hardware store.

"Hopefully for them, it will keep them out of the flood zone, that's for sure," said Bill Warner of Lake Winola.

Gay said he loves the store's new location on Tioga Street misses the old mill building where he grew up.

"It's a little tough to drive by it, but we've gotten used to it now. We've been here long enough and we've grown accustomed to this new building," said Gay.

Gay wishes CVS management the best of luck in their new home.

"The superintendent that's in charge of it comes here all the time and we talk to him. All the stuff that he's telling us that they've done and I think they've prepared themselves well enough that it's not going to do anything with the flooding if it ever occurs again like that. "

The new CVS location will open on Sunday.

On Saturday, the old store at the Towne Plaza will start moving products and employees over to Bridge Street.

A CVS manager said the newer and bigger location will also be hiring new employees.
