Valley View graduate Drew Rossi signed a contract to play professional affiliated baseball with the Washington Nationals this week. The great news for the 25-year-old comes just weeks before the report date of March 1st in Florida. Rossi played baseball at Mitchell College then landed a utility role in the Frontier League followed by some time in different independent leagues the last three years. Drew's big break came with a phone call late last week. Rossi's contract states that he starts in the New York/Penn league but with his experience and age Drew is hoping to be in high "A" ball in Hagerstown where his father Phil-a scout with the Miami Marlins can come scout him. Newswatch 16 sports talked with Drew on Wednesday at the Baseball State Academy training facility in Scranton-a place where he works with baseball and softball players on their hitting and fielding techniques.
