HARVEYS LAKE — According to the Luzerne County coroner, Jean Nelligan died Tuesday evening following a car crash Monday morning.

Authorities say Nelligan was not wearing her seat belt when her car slammed into the back of a recycling truck at Harveys Lake.

It happened along a curve on Route 415 when workers were stopped picking up recyclables left outside houses.

One worker was behind the wheel. The other man was in a driveway hauling recycling bins to the truck. They were not hurt.

Officials say that recycling crew was following the law and won’t face any citations.Jean Nelligan mug

Police are still trying to figure out why the woman’s car plowed into the back of a truck.

This woman was like a mother to me….I PROMISE you that she was not texting. She didn’t even own a cell phone. She was a wonderful woman and she was always very safe. There’s no way if ever knowing but it is suspected that she may have passed out because of a medical condition and fasting
For bloodwork. So…no we can’t say texting.
