Due to the weather conditions, PennDOT is temporarily reducing the speed limit to 45 mph on Interstate 80, 81, 84 and 380.

The following list of vehicles have been banned from using Interstate 78, 81, 83, 283 and Route 283 and 581 in South Central PA: empty straight trucks, large combination vehicles, tractors hauling empty trailers, trailers pulled by passenger vehicles, motorcycles and recreational vehicles.

The Pa. Turnpike Commission also reduced the speed limit to 45 mph for all drivers traveling between Blue Mountain Tunnel (milepost 200) and the Delaware River Bridge (Exit 359) as well as the entire Northeast Extension from Mid County Interchange (Exit 20) to Clarks Summit (Exit 131).

The PTC has also banned non-commercial or recreational trailers being pulled by passenger vehicles, along with empty and double tractor trailers traveling between Breezewood Interchange (Exit 161) and the Deleware River Bridge as well as the entire Northeast Extension.

All speed reductions and bans will be in effect until further notice.

Officials recommend not traveling during winter storms, but motorists can check road conditions by calling 511 or visiting www.511PA.com.
