WILKES-BARRE -- The weather on Sunday was perfect for a winter event in Luzerne County.
Dozens joined in the first "Winter Along the River" at Nesbitt Park in Wilkes-Barre. The activity was meant to teach people about the environment while having a bit of fun.
There was cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, sledding, and even a fire to roast marshmallows and stay warm.
"As you can see around here today, it's a lot of fun. People are learning all about everything there is in the winter time, in forest, like i said we're teaching all four seasons," said John Maday, a member of the Riverfront Parks Committee.
For anyone with a sweet tooth, folks at the event enjoyed maple treats for sampling.
