A Roman Catholic priest and native of Dunmore was installed as the 11th bishop of the Diocese of Jackson, Mississippi Thursday afternoon.
Rev. Joseph Kopacz has been a priest in the Diocese of Scranton since 1977 and has served in several different parishes in the northeast, most recently the Most Holy Trinity parish in Mount Pocono.
Among those attending Fr. Kopacz’s ordination today were priests and former bishops from the diocese along with family and friends of Fr. Kopacz.
