PLAINS TOWNSHIP -- The snow and slush made for slipping and sliding in Luzerne County, causing a number of small crashes, slow moving-traffic, and lots of plowing.

With streets as slushy as this, it's no surprise that small crashes caused some serious traffic backups, like this one on the River Street exit of the Cross Valley Expressway in Plains Township.

"I wouldn't come out again if I didn't have to."

Plows were all over the valley, but drivers say they were no match for the snowy mess.

"It's not worth coming out in this kind of weather. I have two other kids in school and I kind of wish they let them out early today too because I don't feel safe with them coming home on the bus," said Tina Fronczek of Pittston.

Stephanie Symons of Bear Creek braved the roads for a quick trip to Target in Wilkes-Barre Township.

"There was a left turn to come into Target, and the road was covered, and I ended up sliding," said Symons.

It's not just the roads that are bad. Even the sidedwalks are horrible. I can't even find it in here. I wiped out earlier today and this is what's keeping some people extra busy.

Like Jack Coats, who's been out plowing sidewalks for hours.

"Just got down here, and well, I ain't going until this stuff is gone," said Jack Coats, who works for DNR Construction.

Since the current weather is too much for some.

"They said only one to two inches, a possible dusting. I didn't think it was going to get this bad," said Fronczek.

Other people are giving up and looking ahead to the next few months.

"I don't enjoy this. I want summer," said Symons.

But there's a long way to go until summer heats up.
