SCRANTON -- A nursing home in Scranton is preparing to operate without water for days.
Jugs of water are being delivered to residents' rooms at the Scranton Health Care Center on McCarthy Street in Scranton.
The facility's administrator also says they have a water buffalo on hand for the 43 residents here, and have done extra loads of laundry.
Although staff says they have a disaster preparedness policy, they say it's still difficult to be ready.
“How long, that is the toughest part is not knowing how long because it’s frustrating. You don’t realize how important water is until you’re without it,” said Scranton Health Care Center administrator Lorree Levulis.
There are no plans to evacuate residents from the nursing while the water is shut off.
