NANTICOKE — Administrators at the Greater Nanticoke Area School District tell Newswatch 16 that Superintendent Anthony Perrone resigned Tuesday night because of health issues.

School officials said Perrone retired 11 years ago, but he continued working for no pay as the district’s superintendent until this week.

Officials say the elementary principal will act as the superintendent through the rest of the school year, until the board selects a new leader.
