At the end of the 1st quarter the #6 ranked Hazleton Area Cougars boy's basketball team held a 19-16 advantage over Pittston Area. The game televised live on WNEP2. At halftime the Cougars up 39-33. Throughout most of the second half only six points separated these two Wyoming Valley Conference Division I teams, but in the end Hazleton able to pull away and secure the 74-59 win in front of a packed house in Yatesville.
