SHAMOKIN — Investigators in Northumberland County are trying to figure out why a school bus crashed into the front porch of a home early Tuesday morning.

It happened after 6:30 a.m. on Bear Valley Avenue in Shamokin.

Officials say the bus slammed into the porch and hit a gas line and a water main.

No students were on the bus at the time and no one was injured.

The people living inside the home are staying with relatives.

“We have no heat, no water, no car. I want to get started on the fixing part of it. I want to go home,” said homeowner Tracy Beach.

The 74-year-old bus driver was able to get out of the bus through the back and was not hurt.

The reason for the crash is still under investigation.
