Fire Forces Family Out, Dogs Killed

RUSH TOWNSHIP -- A fire in Schuylkill County forced a family of five out into the cold and killed two pets.

The heavy smoke was pouring from the home after 8 a.m. Friday on Ben Titus Road north of Hometown.

Witnesses said two dogs died in the fire.

Investigators ruled the fire accidental. They said a space heater caused it.
