The state has given PPL approval to build 58 miles of new power lines in northeastern Pennsylvania.

The Public Utility Commission approved the new project which will construct power lines through portions of Luzerne, Lackawanna, Monroe, and Wayne Counties.

Two new power substations will also be built in Luzerne and Lackawanna Counties.

PPL provides electricity to about 1.4 million customers throughout 29 counties in eastern and central Pennsylvania.
