Thousands Without Power After Fire

Thousands of homes and businesses in Monroe County were without power Wednesday evening.

Many parts of the county were in the dark for about two hours.

According to the utility company Met-Ed, there was a fire at its substation in Smithfield Township around 5:15 p.m.

Crews cut off the power at the substation while firefighters put out the fire. Power was restored just before 7:30 p.m.
