The cold weather kept a lot of people indoors today...except for those with jobs that keep them outside.
For Lisa Heller, a mail carrier in Tunkhannock, Tuesday was a normal work day.
"You have to dress in layers, make sure you have your face covered up as much as you can," Lisa Heller said.
For 18 years, she's walked the streets in Tunhannock borough thousands of times. The single digit temperatures on Tuesday was nothing new for her.
"In the beginning it's a little tough, but your body does actually get accustomed to it. I don't know how they do it out in the Midwest. I don't think I could do -65 below zero wind chill," Heller said.
Grace Kelly spent the afternoon delivering for her mom's business, Downtown Deli. The frigid air kept the regulars out of the deli, while Kelly was busy on her feet delivering food to Gateway Ford and other places.
"No one wants to leave work to go out in the cold, so they want me to come to them and deliver," Grace Kelly said.
Other businesses including Monzie's Floral Design also stayed busy making deliveries. Lonni Schmeckenbecher didn't realize how cold it was, until she made her first delivery of the day.
"I thought I would be brave and I didn't think it would be a big problem, but now that I'm out here - it is actually pretty cold," Schmeckenbecher said.
Even though the single digit temperatures are keeping a lot of people indoors, there are some people who say this cold blast isn't that bad.
"I mean back in the 70's we were below zero. It's winter," Carole Greenip of Falls said.
"Actually we lived out in Minnesota for a while, so we're kind of used to cold weather," Randy Greenip of Falls said.
For Heller, Schmeckenbecher and Kelly, they say they are also used to the cold.
They just hope it's something they won't have to deal with for too much longer.
