SCRANTON — A former employee of the Diocese of Scranton pleaded guilty Monday to stealing from the church.
According to the Lackawanna County district attorney’s office, Sharon Warunek admitted to stealing about $340,000 from the diocese when she worked there.
Warunek had paid back about $100,000 at the time of her arraignment and promised to continue repaying what she took.
She will be sentenced in the next few months and could face up to seven years in prison.
