From Scranton central, to Penn State, and then drafted by the Houston Oilers, Mike Munchak has spent his entire professional career, as a player, then assistant coach, and then head coach of the Oilers-Titans organization. But, today the two sides are going their separate ways.
General Manager Ruston Webster said in a statement, that Munchak is quote, " First class, and I wish him and his family nothing but the best. I want to thank Mike for his professionalism through this process and thank him for his years of dedication to the organization."
In his three seasons as head coach, Munchak compiled a record of 22 and 26 and failed to take the team to the playoffs.
He had no prior experience as a head coach or coordinator when he was hand-picked to replace Jeff Fisher as the head coach in 2011.
Munchak has also been considered to be one of the top candidates for the Penn State head coaching job.
But now Penn State interviewed Miami Hurricanes head coach Al Golden to possibly fill the Nittany Lions vacant head coach position.
