PENN TOWNSHIP — The case against a natural gas drilling company facing criminal charges for a spill in Lycoming County is now headed to trial.

A judge has ruled that there is enough evidence to take the case to trial.

A hearing on the case was held last month.

XTO Energy is facing charges it violated state regulations when the spill near Hughesville happened in 2010.

This is the first time the state is holding a company criminally liable for a spill at a natural gas drilling site.
