WARREN COUNTY, NJ — State police in New Jersey blame an intoxicated, wrong-way driver for a crash Friday that left a man from Monroe County dead.

The crash happened around 3:00 a.m. Friday on westbound Interstate 80 in Warren County, New Jersey. The wreck happened in Hardwick Township, which is across the Delaware River from Delaware Water Gap.

According to New Jersey State Police, a car driven by Amanda Rivera, 23, of Henryville in Monroe County was going the wrong way in the westbound lanes of Interstate 80.

Police say Rivera’s car collided head-on with a car driven by Amanda Rodriguez, 22, of Saylorsburg.

A passenger in Rodriguez’s car, Jason Frey, 25, of Effort, was killed.

Rodriguez and two other passengers were taken to the hospital. Police identified the other passengers as Marissa Sangiuolo, 21, of Saylorsburg and Vanessa Wong, 23, of Effort.

Rivera was also taken to the hospital. Police said she was charged with DWI.

The deadly crash on Interstate 80 in New Jersey remains under investigation.
