COOLBAUGH TOWNSHIP -- A second teenager has died following a weekend crash in Monroe County.

The Lackawanna County coroner said that Brian Felder, 16, of Tobyhanna died at Geisinger-Community Medical Center in Scranton on Christmas Eve.

Justin Curry, 15, of Tobyhanna died at the scene of Sunday night's crash on Route 196 near Echo Lake Road in Tobyhanna.

Ivette Rivera works at the Liberty Convenience Mart down the road from the crash.
She says the community's been in shock since the crash happened.

"It was devastating, especially when we heard that the kid died and everything. For a little kid to die a couple of days before Christmas, I mean, that's terrible."

Police say the car with the teens and three other people crossed the center line along Route 196 and hit an SUV head on.

"Terrible stretch, especially when you're coming down and it's really icy and cold outside. That's slippery ice when you come down, so even if you press your brakes, you're not going to stop. You're just going to keep sliding down no matter what," Rivera said.

Authorities say neither of the teens who died was wearing a seat belt. But, Ivette Rivera says, regardless of the circumstances, she hates to hear that yet another person died just before the holiday.

"For a little child to die because of somebody else's negligence is really bad for the community and everything. So everybody feels it around here," she said.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police are investigating the crash. So far, no charges have been filed.
