COAL TOWNSHIP -- Crews have been cleaning up a gasoline leak in Northumberland County.

Workers with Sunoco were draining part of a pipeline along Route 61 near Shamokin Sunday afternoon.

According to a Sunoco spokesperson, someone reported the smell of gasoline near the pipeline on Friday. The company shut off the gas to the area while DEP and a hazmat team checked for a leak.

Sunoco said about two gallons of gasoline leaked out and that no waterways were affected by the leak.

Crews have been digging up the pipe to find the problem.  Officials said they will continue non-stop until the leak is fixed.
