Flames Force Family out of Home Before Holidays

HUNLOCK CREEK — A family in Luzerne County hopes to return to their home for the holidays after flames forced them out.

The fire broke out near Hunlock Creek around 10:00 p.m. Wednesday night.

Authorities say the family of 5 was home at the time when the mother noticed smoke and got them out.

Firefighters think a wood burning stove is to blame.

Crews say the house was damaged and the family is unsure when they will be able to return.
